Instructional Routines in the XBOOKS Curriculum

XBOOKS instructional routines help students meet the goals for college and career readiness laid out in the Common Core State Standards. They include:

  • Analyze Text and Cite Evidence

Teaching students to cite evidence in response to text-dependent questions, read closely, and evaluate what they have read will help them unpack meaning from text.
  • Read Informational Texts

This routine helps students approach, comprehend, and retain key ideas from informational texts.
  • Build Concepts and Acquire Vocabulary

Teaching students academic and content vocabulary using a consistent, systematic set of steps will help build background knowledge and confidence in using language.

XBOOKS also provides opportunities for differentiating instruction to narrow achievement gaps and meet the needs of individual students.
