Building Language for Literacy: Pre-Kindergarten Study, Los Angeles Unified School District 2001–2002
Phase one of a two-year independent study finds Scholastic’s Building Language for Literacy (BLL) program significantly increases vocabulary acquisition and letter and word identification skills for both English- and Spanish-speaking children.

Building Language for Literacy: At Risk Preschoolers, Bessemer, Alabama 2002–2003
Results revealed differential gains in favor of children receiving BLL on measures of receptive vocabulary. In addition, BLL Head Start students achieved greater gains than their comparison peers on measures of phonemic awareness and letter recognition.
