Find
a Favorite Book It's
Teacher Read-Aloud Time!
In Session 1
of this workshop, I will discuss the importance of making time for
sharing books you love for
Read-Aloud every day. I will share tips for
a successful Read-Aloud and an example of how I set the stage for
this special time of day. There are ideas for collecting, organizing,
and sharing books according to themes and by favorite authors. I
will highlight books to introduce certain writing and word recognition
skills, as well as my special "reserve" of favorite books
to share when you need them most. Finally, I will offer suggestions
for getting students talking about books with an example of a typical
Read-Aloud discussion time in my classroom.
At the end of
this session on reading aloud to your students, you will have an
opportunity to participate in a survey that will assess your present
Read-Aloud practices as well as your students' reactions to Read
Aloud time. After completing Session 1 of this workshop, you will
have identified books to help you unwind, motivate, connect, and
encourage your students using the pages of quality literature.
